SUNCASA Project C (Johannesburg CBD & Catchments)
- Scope: A multi-layered urban design initiative rolling out a series of 25 pocket plaza intersections along a 12km pedestrian corridor.
- System Design: Utilizing a 70/30 modular framework (70% standardized, replicable concrete infrastructure; 30% site-adapted public art). Features interactive thermochromic “Chameleon” road paint that changes color at 30°C to highlight urban heat island impacts, alongside modular phytoremediation planters and Miyawaki pocket forests.
Westside Primary School (Ecological Learning Lab)
- Scope: Transforming a highly trafficked schoolyard into a robust nature-learning laboratory.
- Components Installed: Precast concrete Rain-to-Root benches, masonry Pillars of Learning inscribed with educational frameworks, integrated bio-fountain tap sequences, and hardwearing kweekgras groundcover installations designed to withstand student foot traffic and eliminate dust.
